One man went looking for where he came from. A whole crew went with him.

Toshi Nishio was born to a Japanese father and a Dominican mother. Two countries, two languages, one person trying to hold both at once. In October 2026 he goes back to Japan — and this time the whole thing gets filmed.

You may already know him as Chinito2800: the food, the family, the jokes, the community. NI$HIO is the other half — the music begins. KAKEHASHI (架け橋, “the bridge”) is what both of them are building, and the Japan Bridge Tour is the first time it gets proved in public.

This is not one guy with a camera. Seven departments run this operation, plus partners on the ground in Japan and the Dominican Republic. They get introduced one at a time, all the way to departure.

It has to land in both countries.

That is the whole standard, and everything else follows from it. A room in Santo Domingo and a room in Tokyo both have to see themselves in this. When only one side does, it is not a bridge yet, and we keep working until it is. Here is what that looks like day to day.

We film from inside the room.

Every city on this route is somewhere the crew has family, friends, or history. We eat there before we shoot there. That is the difference between a place recognising itself on screen and a place watching someone pass through.

A partner has to make sense on both sides.

A brand that belongs in the story goes in the story. One that only works in a single market stays out, whatever the number on the offer. A bolted-on sponsor shows in a single frame, and it costs everyone — the brand included.
